TIJUANA, Mexico, July 7, 2010 - El Salvador edged Guadeloupe 3-1
(28-26, 22-25, 25-22, 25-20) in a Pool C match between winless
teams of NORCECA Women’s Junior Continental Championship. The
winners had the advantage in spikes (45-29) and in serves (8-5)
while the taller defeated side dominated in blocks (14-2).
Salvadorian Adriana Flores had a match-high 24 points and Andrea
Manzur charted 10 for the winning side. Guadeloupeans Yannick
Ferbac and Julie Disa recorded 20 and 12 points respectively.
“This was a big step for El Salvador,” said Coach Nery Henriquez.
“We are still in a development process like Guadeloupe, and
winning this match was an amazing and thrilling experience.”
“We could win this match, but the attackers did not attack
enough, the service was not good at all, even though we had a
better performance than yesterday”, stated Jean-Louis Delag,
head coach of Guadeloupe.
